This training was arranged with thirty volunteers from Dhaka district under the “Building Youth Capacity to Promote and Protect Human Rights” initiative.
Executive Director Ijajul Islam welcomed participants, highlighting the workshop’s significance in addressing the importance of fact-finding in human rights defending.
The first session was conducted Prominent Human Rights Activist and Advisor of HRSS Md Nur Khan on ‘A Methodical Approach to Investigation and Fact-Finding of Human Rights Violations’ The session concluded with a Q&A segment.
The following second session was led by Anirban Saha, Human Rights activist and Former Asst. Coordinator of Investigation unit, Ain o Salish Kendraa on “Crafting Impactful Reports on Human Rights Situations and Human Rights Violations.”, the session explored the Contextual Understanding and Identification of Human Rights Violations, Victim Profiles and Perpetrator Analysis, Legal Framework and International Standards with Documentation and Evidence. Participants delved into practical demo investigation afterward, this demo investigation may help them to act as independent human rights defenders during any violations. The initiative should facilitate to documentation and allow further victim support and legal aid in the field.
The third session was facilitated by Md. Zahid Hossain, Human Rights Officer (UN Residence Coordinator’s Office, Bangladesh ), this session focused on function of the OCHCR, Human rights treaties, special procedure and complain process. A group activity prompted active participant engagement, with demo complain procedure to the UN special rapporteur. A brief evaluation test assessed participants’ understanding, reinforcing.
Mr. Ijajul Islam summarized key takeaways, emphasizing practical relevance. The workshop concluded with refreshments, facilitating informal conversations and connections for future collaboration.
