The Human Rights Support Society (HRSS) hosted an insightful workshop designed to inspire and empower participants with a deeper understanding of human rights. The day began with a well-organized registration and breakfast session, setting a welcoming tone for the event.
The welcoming speech and ice-breaking session, led by Executive Director Mr. Ijajul Islam, established camaraderie among attendees, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for the day’s discussions.
Session 1, conducted by Prof. Dr. Jafrullah Talukdar of the University of Chittagong, explored the historical evolution of human rights, from the Magna Carta to the UDHR, while highlighting Bangladesh’s alignment with global frameworks like ICCPR and ICESCR.
In Session 2, Dr. Mohammad Moin Uddin delved into constitutional protections of human rights in Bangladesh. He emphasized the enforceability of fundamental rights through Article 102 of the Constitution of Bangladesh and drew parallels with the UDHR.
Post-lunch, an engaging quiz session energized participants for Session 3, where Mr. Ijajul Haque discussed the crucial roles of activists, defenders, and volunteers in upholding human rights.
The day concluded with group activities, where participants compared Bangladesh’s Constitution with the UDHR, followed by an ending speech and refreshments, fostering networking and reflection.
This impactful workshop empowered participants with essential knowledge and skills, strengthening their resolve to advocate for and defend human rights effectively.
